The Shepparton Adventure Club runs a variety of outdoor activities for its members in a sociable setting. Guidance & instruction is available in a non-competitive environment so that participants can have fun and learn new skills at minimal cost.
The Shepparton Adventure Club (SAC) is situated in the Greater Shepparton region of Northern Victoria. It commenced operation in 1975 to cater for outdoor activities for boys aged 8 to 17 years. In 1979 membership was opened to anyone of any age and in 1984/85 the constitution was altered to reflect the requirements of incorporation.
SAC's activities over the years have previously included rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, kayaking, cross-country skiing, snow-caving, camping. bushwalking, rafting, mountaineering, canyoning and cycle touring.
The club's activities have changed a little over the years. The club now caters mainly for bushwalking (anything from easy half day walks to strenuous week long walks in remote areas), cross-country skiing, canoeing and kayaking, cycle touring, social camping and social gatherings. Also a group of largely retirees meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month, our "mid-week walkers' for relatively easy walking and socializing in an area within 1 to 2 hours of Shepparton.
Most of SAC's activities are based in Victoria, but over the years the club has organized activities in all states of Australia. We endeavour to have at least one activity per month.
SAC is affilated with Bushwalking Victoria, which is the peak body for bushwalking clubs in Victoria.
